Im not taking anyone sides but i awnsered a question about a month ago and a women said that blacks have more crime than whites. Some places there is and some places there is not. I did a little research on a jail near me and the total popualtion is 47,519. 51.30% is whites and 47.63% is black. It was bothering me alot and I want to know why pepole assume that blacks do more crime than whites? And i know thats just in one jail BUT i have proof that its almost a equal amount. But my question to everyone is why does this happen? Im not saying that all whites are rasist because im white and im not abd im not saying all black are either. Thanks and have a good night

There is actually a higher percentage of the black population in prison than the white population. HOWEVER, it is believed that law enforcement agencies profile criminals, which means that they decide what types of people are more likely to commit crimes. These profiles may be based on the people who were caught committing crimes in the past. Black people were caught committing more crimes in the past because they were openly hated and discriminated against by those people in power (or the whites).
I would say that race has nothing to do with whether or not a person is going to commit crime. A person's values and whether or not they have other opportunities to make money is going to have more influence.

I truly believe that people cant help but be racist at least some of the time (that includes all subgroups of humanity) Statistically I am sure that there are more black people in prison than white but That is only to say that it is easier for the system to marginalize them and put them away. But I do not think that is the way it will always be. It seems to me that black people are starting to take their place among disenfranchised middle America. Not all the way there of course. But I do think that they are starting to get alot more opportunities. Maybe I am wrong. All the stupid *** backwards people that I have met are white. But my experience is limited.

I think usually it has to do with personal experiences. It also has to do with where you grew up. I would like to think that I don't stereotype or prejudge people, but I know that's not true. EVERYONE stereotypes or prejudges others. I know everytime in my life where I've seen live violence in front of me it was involving black people. It's not that I choose to be more cautious around a race, but I guess it's out of instinct.
When I watch the news, however, I have to admit that most of the crime they report about has to do with black people. I'm not sure if it's just they way they report or what. But that has to make you think one way or another.

well you right not all African Americans are criminals and also there are defiantly just as much white criminals but what i would what to know, is why it is that people honestly believe in there racial comets and why are people so
racist truth be told it doesn't matter if your white African Chinese Korean Russian your still a human just like the person standing next to you but anybody can be a criminal not just Africans
