I think Walmart should try to follow the example of training their employees in the same manner as the Target stores do. Whenever you go into a Target, every employee that you meet while you are shopping will make eye contact with you, warmly greet you and ask if you need any help. They act as if though you are the most important customer in the store. I have observe this in every Target I have ever been in. Whenever you approach the checkout counter, no matter how busy the clerk will be, you get the same attention.
This does not happen that often in Walmart. Many times you cannot find anyone to help you, and when you do, they will inform you they don't work in that department. Several times that I have approach the checkout counter to complete my transactions, I was not spoken to until I was told what my total was. I am not saying that every employee of Walmart does this, some are quite helpful and do go out of their way to help you, but this does not happen very often. I realize they are probably overworked and underpaid, but it it were not for customer, no body would need them. This is something that I have really been noticing as of late and wonder if anyone else out there has noticed this too.
I have worked in the public eye all my life and was taught from the time I was 12 years old that customer courtesy should always be the top priority. I just don't think that is stressed as much as it should be to employees of Walmart.
I just think that is something someone at the Walmart corporation should be more aware of.

It basically destroyed all of the local businesses surrounding it. When China decides that it wants to fuc* the US because we are greedy bastards we will basically be screwed because there are only stores like Walmart around that get everything it sells from China or from some kid working his a** off in another country - for a penny a day, might I add.

Oh and its also the site for large gatherings of illegals (at least here on the West coast)

Walmart is nothing more than a chinese flea market run by low wage earners stuck in a job they hate because there is not a whole lot of jobs available for them in this country.

I refuse to shop there and put money in that prick CEO's pocket while his employees go on welfare and live in shacks.

hum, this is an iffy for me.
they do have a great return policy
and they also have employed my aunt who is mentally handicapped (she likes it there).
on the other hand they claim to have the lowest prices but i find lower prices in target all the time! target is cleaner and the help is always there when you need it.....
also i understand that walmart is a multi-billion $ industry and they have terrible health insurance for their employees!.... I've told myself I'll look in target before i go there.... so there's my iffy response... (opinion)

Walmart overworks, and underpays the employees. Since Sam Walton died,It has gone downhill, fast. I used to work there. And got tired of all the crap from snotnosed manegment.

walmart sucks cause i say it sucks and thats all that matters to me ... someone else wants to shop in their store for trash products made by rice labor in countries that under value our american dollar then be my guest ... i'm already supporting my governent with my hard earned dollars and i'd just as soon not support another one for some third world country who oppresses their population and lives in the 15th century.

Read Nickled and Dimed by Barbra Ehrenrich, or go to Inequality Matters on the net and fine her speech. She was a jouranlist who was sent on assignment and worked there.

There's a Wal-Mart being built now in my neighborhood area and I know for sure that they are putting smaller places out of business already. Lowes is also being built right next to it. Not only does it cause horrendous traffic issues, but it is not fair to the surrounding businesses. The K-Mart that my mom practically opened is being put out of business and my family has been going there for years. I abhor Wal-Mart and have refused to shop there my entire life.
