now im not generalizing all of them only the ones i've met
i've noticed when they come to america they only seem
social with whites or asians why do you think that is?

i even talked to one on this dumb internet thing on her way
to america who admitted she'd most likely only talk with whites
and said (and i quote believe it or not)-i would probably be prejudice to<<
and thats just from what that person saw in movies and on tv

now i know the race issue is a senative subject but
some things are annoying and should be talked about

anywayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

do you think it's because of how other american races a portrayed in the media why people from other countries look at

american whites as the only socialable race in america

your thoughts please (and please nobody say im being racist it's to late at night i havnt taken my meds and i dont wanna hear it)

Actually a lot of them are not even first generation born in USA. Ive worked in a place where out of 10 staff, I was the only non-Asian and it wasnt some sort of restaurant or cultural center. They treated me like I was their slave. Too bad Affirmation Action went out the window. I could have nailed them for their discriminatory practices.

They constantly talked in their native tongue in front of me and always give each other easier assignments. Im sooooo glad I dont work there anymore.

I am black (don't know if you are) and I know what you mean and have noticed that too. I think the answer is that most Asian countries look down on Africans. They are lower than low in their eyes. Then the media that gets to countries like Japan is usually full of the stupid pop culture stereotypes that black people put on TV about themselves.

If the only thing you knew about black people was the crap you saw on TV and the violent crap you see on CNN about Africa, you wouldn't talk to them either.

Well, I generally heard (from a few Asians, Japanese, Chinese, etc. that I went to school with) that their parents/ grandparents (who were immigrants) raised them to assimilate into the White culture because it is considered "good", "acceptable", and the only way to become successful. This is not across the board, this is just what I heard from a few classmates when discussing race relations, history, and culture in our class. And yes other cultures are considered "bad" because of the negative portrayal in the media, and from hearsay (rumors, stereotypes)

People comming to America go over to people that they are use to or seem right because of their culture. It could take time before they can feel comforable to talk outside of the box meeting new people and new races.

Just think of it this way, You are invited to a party, just you and noone else that you know of...when u get there, you see tons unfamiliar people... the first thing that you wanna find is FRIENDS, FAMILY or someone you meet before and stay with them for awhile till you feel comfortable with the party and everyone inside and then you go around talking to other people with the same interest...

So, just bite your tongue and go along...

If you don't want to hear it then why did you ask it? To answer your question though, they no doubt base their beliefs on what the news media puts out, and I'll let you take it from there.

When you get angry about race you give up your power over the situation.I feel sad for anyone who lets the media determine their opinions. You should feel superior to any one who has prejudice's unless you have a few yourself.

I am an american asian. I have travelled almost all over the world (have stayed in the US countless times) and communicating with people from other races has never been a problem to me.

Its not the media... it is how people accept this reality. I guess its indeed your problem.. no one else can deal with it other than yourself.

ARG

give me a break.....

things will change (over time) after people don't define each other by the color of their skin or what religion they follow.

but that only begins with you...... you can be the one that starts the ball rolling and changes the way society thinks.
