You can do a blood test for luteinizing hormone (LH). This is the same hormone that the OPKs test for. The hard part is that you would have to get a blood test every day if you want to use it to predict ovulation, because you have to catch the LH surge. A blood test -- even if they send it out "stat" -- will still take some hours to get the results. So I just don't think it's feasible. The OPKs are much more practical, you can do them twice a day if you want and you get an instant read.
If the OPKs haven't shown anything "yet" it does not mean it's not working, it could just mean that you haven't had an LH surge.
If you find OPKs difficult to use (many people do) you may want to try the Clearblue Fertility Monitor.
ON EDIT: P.S. If you just finished taking your fifth day of clomid -- you should ovulate in about a week. It's different for everyone and depends on your existing normal cycle as well, so that's a week give or take a few days. You will not get an LH surge right after you are done taking your clomid, your egg follicles need more time to grow and mature before the egg(s) will be ready to ovulate.

What is clomiphene?
Clomiphene is a nonsteroidal fertility medicine. It causes the pituitary gland to release hormones needed to stimulate ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary).
Clomiphene is used to cause ovulation in women with certain medical conditions (such as polycystic ovary syndrome) that prevent naturally occurring ovulation.
Clomiphene may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

It can tell you if your progesterone levels are up which is essential to ovulate. I, too, was on Clomid, had several blood tests while on it, and conceived within two months afterwards. Good Luck!

I've never heard of a blood test to indicate ovulation. Usually the easiest way to discern it is through physical symptoms - some water retention, a clear, stretchy secretion, and maybe minor cramping or very VErY minor pain in the area of an ovary.

Yes...On the 21st day of your cycle they send you for a blood test to check the progesterone levels. That is when they can tell if you ovulated.

Hi! There are ovulation predictors on sale at your local drug store such as CVS pharmacy and Walton's. They are in the same area as the pregnancy tests, and they are supposed to be a good indicator of when you are ovulating! Hope this helps! -Janet

blood tests do not show ovulation- a biological process of the egg. however, blood test will show increases levels which do show up when conception has taken place.
