Northern Minnesota is beautiful. And St. Paul is pretty nice. Minneapolis is beginning to look sort of drab.

Minnesota comes from Sioux word meaning "cloudy water." The Minnesota River & its lakes reflect the clouds in the sky.
Winters are cold & summers are hot & humid. Thunderstorms & tornadeos are commmon in the southern part. Dairy farms are common in the southeastern part.
The lakes, forests & rivers provide outdoor activities. Whitewater rafting is common during summer. In winter, people go ice fishing on it's frozen lakes & rivers. What about that ? It is a new activity indeed!
What else do you expect to see? Voyageurs National Park is located on its northern border with Canada. It honors the French Canadian voyageurs, fur trappers & explorers.
Did you know that the largest mall in the USA is located in this state?
( www. mallofamerica.com?adults_plan_visit.aspx)
If you plan to go here, better get to know the mall before you arrive. They have their savings coupon! It looks exciting! Feel the underwater adventure aquarium! Did you know that it has the largest shark collection? See the world's largest animated & interactive LEGO clock tower at LEGO. The good news is that the admission is FREE. See also the largest indoor amusement park in the USA with your family! What else do we expect to see? There is the Dinosaur Walk Museum! Again it is located at Bloomington, MInnesota.
See Yahoo travel for the 40 slideshow of Minneapolis!
See the Landmark Center built in 1902, on the far side of Rice Park. There is a lighthouse at the Boom Island Park with the city skyline on its background. There is the beautiful view of the Pilsburry Hall at the University of Minnesota. Try riding the colorful Metrodome Light Rail Station. See the wonderful & refreshing Minnehaha Falls.
What are the other popular attractions? As cited by Yahoo travel, the top 10 attractions are as follows:
1. Minneapolis Institute of Arts
2. Lake Calhoun
3. Nicolet Mall
4. Minneapolis Sculpture Garden
5. Falls of St. Anthony
6. IDS Crystal Court
7. First Avenue
8. Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum, it is a stainless steel building designed by the American architecht Frank Gehry. It was built in 1993.

It is a great place to visit. I grew up in MN and miss it every day. It is beautiful all over and the Twin Cities have so much to see and do.Start with them, Minneapolis and St. Paul, Visit the Mall of America, the largest indoor mall in the U.S., and the Waterpark of America across the street if you like waterparks. IKEA is also right across the street from MOA. Visit the capital building in St. Paul, and the Science Museum, also in downtown St. Paul. Try the Walker Art Institute in Minneapolis, have a White Castle. Oodles of shopping in both cities, Fort Snelling if you like military or history stuff. Up North (northern MN) Duluth is great, right on Lake Superior, lighthouse and beautiful scenery. Great places to eat all over the state. You will LOVE it!!!

Yes, I lived there for 5 years. I would suggest visiting in the summer months but Minneapolis is wonderful. Duluth is fun and right on the water. There are many lakes and friendly people.

minnesota is great, born and raised and still live in duluth. we don't say you betcha here. thats canada. winter is only about the end of october or nov. some years and only goes to about march early april. mosquitos are only a problem from about late june to middle of august and if you use some light bug spray, they are no problem. there is much to do here! minneapolis/st.paul are great if you like a lot of hustle and lots of people, if you want somewhere smaller that still has great stuff to do and see, come to duluth.

every state in our great nation is a great place to visit., but don't visit during the summer. It's the land of 10,000 lakes or something like that, and the mosquito's will eat you alive.
