is guilty as charged? I just saw on the news that he's allegedly been having an affair with a gay prostitute for a few months, and when the prostitute saw him on TV and found out who he really was, and that he was against gay rights, that he decided to come forward and talk. I think there are probably many, many men who preach the bible and condemn gays and are really self-hating gays themselves. Sad.

tjn: I re-played the story and you're right, I misheard it the first time. It has been going on for a few years. Thanks for the correction : )

Actually what I heard on NPR was that this is a several year relationship, not a few months. I don't know about the prostitute stuff, it seems to be convenient that he is paying for sex instead of actually having a relationship.

I think its sad when anyone has to not only lie to himself but lie to the person he agreed to be faithful to, his wife. Liars and cheats, no matter what sexuality or what ever religion, are vile.

Yes. I have known several evangelical Christians who are intolerant about gays, but yet they have have had secret gay affairs. A friend used to go to a Pentecostal church and he is gay. He ran into a visiting evangelist in the baths one evening. "Do as I say, not as I do" seems to be their motto.

They are very good at pointing the finger at the "sins" of others -- because when the focus is on somebody else, then they think it makes them look better and without suspicion. It's only a matter of time before their hypocrisy is exposed.

As for Haggard, this looks good on him -- and on any other fundie who loves to rant and rave about other people. He should know that in the Bible, it says, "be sure your sin will find you out". (Numbers 32:23). And Haggard is definitely "out"!

I think that's why so many of them fight so hard against gay marriage. They are afraid "we" will do to them the same thing females did to them in the past, " No Hugee no Kissee until I get a wedding ring"....

I don't know if he is gay or not, but there are probably many many self-hating gays out there. It's very sad.

Knowing this type of bigot he will claim he was misquoted or find way to blame his gayness on the Clinton's or the liberal press.
