Ok asked before, but now I have checked BIOs and I dont know what to do. My comp takes like 2 minutes before actually starting up...what can I do to fix this problem? I checked my RAM and said it was good, but my processing speed seemed weird because I thought it was 2.2 GHz but it says 1.1 I have a T3256 Emachines.

I fixed it, and got the processor to read perfect, but still slow Windows XP screen...it freezes, but than two minutes later, everything works perfectly. I wonder if ti has to do with Windows XP?

I fixed the bios to read right, but still slow on the Windows utilizing screen....could it be Windows XP? I am not talking about the startup, rather the black screen before it.

eMachine are not very good quality computers. Some things to try...
One should do diskclean up everyday and defrag two or three times a week if the computer is used moderately. Try this.
You may need to do a Disk Cleanup..and be sure you have all the boxes checked....
Defrafg your C drive or what ever is your
main harddrive... Make sure you have selected the C Drive.... This is called a Disk Defragmenter...
Go to : Start...
programs..
accessories...
system tools..
Do this often...
Try the System Restore which takes you back to a time when your computer was working good. Go To:
start
programs
accessories
systems tools
system restore
This process is completely reversable. And does not remove your personal files. Just go back one checkpoint at a time until your puter is working good again.

OK had this same problem I called the tech support to get mine fixed so I will tell you to do the same thing they have to tell you how to turn off something in your computer to get your presser speed back up.My computer was then same way and man I was mad when I got it home and it would not play the games that I play.Just call tech support for your computer and tell them about the processor speed not being the right speed and they can fix you up.also sounds like your video drivers may not be up to date check to see if the video drivers are up to date and see if that works.

I think you have an incorrect BIOS settings. Open your BIOS and use the default values (usually F5 or F8). Save before exiting.

For more information you have to read the motherboard manual. You can download the manual via download support of the manufacturer's website.

There may be many reasons for this problem. I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems. Some RAM/hard drive problems can be easily fixed yourself by using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful
