I recently had RoadRunner installed in my new apartment. Today I purchased a router and hooked it up. The setup wizard provided gets to the router configuration step and tells me that my modem has router funtions, and that I need to disable them. I contacted RoadRunner who told me that wasn't true. Anyway, I was not able to set up my wireless network, but my laptop is finding an unsecure network that was not there before. If I unplug my router, the network disappears. The three other networks in range of my laptop begin with 2WIRE, but this new one begins with Jumpstart.
Did it set up a network by itself? If this Jumpstart network is mine, how can I secure it, and why is it named Jumpstart? I just want to use my laptop anywhere in my house without connecting it to the ethernet cable! Help

Sorry. It is a D-Link WBR 1310 (ver. A1) router. I can connect to the Jumpstart network,or with the ethernet cable (thru the router).

I have tried logging on using my router IP address, but it won't let me.
