1) non-jury trial ( win [case closed, anger mgmt classes]/lose[???] situation;

2) accept a deal with a public prosecutor and for year or so 'show up for check-up.'

What's done is done, so now : 1 or 2, that is a question.

well for one get a lawyer other wise if it happens again and you already have a case against you it is an automatic 30 days. I know i was there. If you can't afford a lawyer and your not guilty go to trial do what ever is necessary to get it lowered to a misdemeanor and a non violent crime. And court is business that's how they make money by you paying for it.

Here you go, everything you ever wanted to know about Domestic Violence Laws in Michigan. Personally, I'd start with Chapter 6 and don't mess around with it, USE it to every extent that you can to protect yourself.

Public Defenders are only free if you are indigent. Beyond that, they are provided at a discounted fee because every law office does a certain amount of "charity" work.

Good Luck!

You should pay what you can afford for a lawyer. That's why it's not free. Take the deal. You're not going to win if you're a batterer.
