Try a tweezers perhaps. It is small enough to get to the string, strong enough to work it out if you go slowly, and you will do the least amount of damage if any to the bridge. I think you may be able to get it out without resorting to a repair bill at the music store and they will most likely do the same or similar procedure!

Oh, use a pointed end tweezers, there are different types. Your mom probably has one in the house for eyebrow plucking. Check with her before buying one.

Bummer. Sounds like the eye wore into the bridge and is jammed or the winding is trapped. I would use a something narrow but strong like a finishing nail and pick away at the winding to unravel it. Or, try hooking the eye and untwist it causing the string wrapped around it to loosen enough to be removed. You can also try repetitive bending to wear out the metal and 'break' the string. If you have something like a Stratocaster where each string has a height adjustment, you can loosen that, even remove it and maybe get some room to work with. Good luck.

just keep trying to get it out, it'll come out eventually.... and for heaven sake don't take it to a music store.... it's not a piece of machinery, it's an instrument.....and being a mucisian, you should be able to work that problem out without some smart as kid charging 50 bucks to do what you can already do..
