I have asthma, and I have found that the best contraceptives are ones without hormones in them. Depo provera is a good choice because it has no estrogen so it doesn't affect asthma, and you only have to have a shot every three months so you never have to worry about it. I have also taken Micronor, which is a birth control pill without estrogen in it. You can ask your doctor about contraceptives, or if you don't have much money, go to your local heath clinic for family planning services. They can help you decide which contraceptive method is right for you and your wife at a low cost. Of course, condoms are always a good choice as well, but I assumed that you were wondering about other types of contraceptives.

How about an IUD? I used one b/c I wanted to take a med that would make the pill useless, and it was great. Even more effective than the pill, though can mess up her periods a bit... but, still better than worrying about getting pregnant, or getting sick again.

The coil is good. Also Implanon which is a implant inserted into the upper arm.
