It was Billie Dee Williams who spoke the words of Gale Sayers accepting the NFL comeback player of the year in the Movie"Brian's Song" James Caan played Brian Piccolo. Both Sayers and Piccolo played football for the Chicago Bears in the 60s they were the first to be roommates in hotels on road games that were not of the same race and they caught a lot of flack for it.Gale Sayers was probally one of the best running backs ever . Piccolo died from his lung cancer. they made a remake of this movie a few years back but it was nowhere as good as the original, If you wanna read a good book about Gale Sayers ,read"I am Third"
