Hi there,
Basically paypal is a payment agent between you and the merchant. In a way it is a good idea as information such as your credit cards, bank accounts and so is stored with them. That way you do not have to enter it at every website you wish to buy from as long as it accepts paypal as a method of payment. You are actually given a directory at the website of which merchants currently accept paypal.
Opening an account with them is free and they will ask you for the desired methods of payment you would like to use. Once you put all the information on each method of payment you want they will send you testing amounts to those accounts to validate and after that you're good to go.
Also when buying from a website that accepts paypal, once you finish the order they either redirect you to paypal or give you a link so you pay your order with the username and password you created for your account and then it starts processing (your actual purchase order).
Hope that helps.

It's very simple just go to their site decide on your your log on name and pass word and give them your credit card or bank info. A word of caution though, I used paypal and they say it's safe but nothing is 100% safe on line. I had one C.C. and paypal was the only place I used it and after a few weeks I got my C.C. statement and there were charges on it that weren't to paypal and they weren't mine. And for 3 months there were charges on it, had to kiss paypal goodbye and get a new card. When I got in touch with Paypal about it they called my home to go over things and ended up just saying it couldn't be them because their site is safe. Well yeah it might be but that doesn't mean ALL of their employees are honest. Thank God my C.C. company didn't make me pay all the bogus charges.

I have used it a lot for several years, and not just for Ebay purchases. It's very easy to sign up for, easy to use, and costs nothing for the customer.
