When one of my bosses was on site last thursday she let it slip that the district manager lost my time sheet, so that following monday I refaxed my time sheet. I was told I would have it no later than Thursday, well its Thursday evening and still no paycheck, as of Friday morning it will be a week late.

A payroll error must be corrected by the "next regularly scheduled pay date", which I assume is on Friday. Since the error was due to management negligence, a partial check could (should) have been issued based on estimated hours worked. Any difference would then be made up on the next check.

If you do not get the check, (actually two checks, one for the one that was not issued due to the lost time-sheet, and the other, your normal paycheck), by Friday, file a complaint with the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor. (Look in phone book.)

I would let this slide - but just this once. People screw up sometimes, and I hope that you get your check tomorrow - with abundant apologies.

If it happens again, you need to confront your manager and tell him/her that it's unacceptable for you not to be paid on time. If you turned your work in a week late, or showed up to a meeting a week late, would they fly? Doubt it. You can also report to HR, as the payroll person might need to be dealt with in order to fix the issue.

A failure to pay can be reported to the labor board. Most states crack down really hard on employers who try to screw employees out of their pay. There's a 99% likelihood that you signed some sort of contract and that contract probably outlined a payment schedule. So, if this happens again, bring the contract w/ you to the labor board.

God speed!

You have the right to file a complaint with the labor board in your state. What ever your state might be, there is a Department of labor, and I am sure it has a website that you can look at to find out what the laws are in your area.

First go and ask them for your check...be firm but not snotty. They are obligated to pay you for time worked. Their carelesness shouldn't be your problem.
If this becomes a regular thing take them to the labor board in your state.

well it can happen time to time...I'd ask again politely and not be so pushy to them about it. If they're doing this deliberately then I'd be kinda mad but it seems like an honest mistake. Hope your bills don't get paid late because of it.

I would go in and talk to the personnel dept. and explain the situation.
