Ovechkin, Heatley and Kovalchuk are all candidates. But I'd go with Ovechkin. He's the youngest and he's got the most potential.

Does Malkin playing LW count, if so he has to be top 5. Shannan might still be the top but I think the two would be pretty close and Malkin wins out by age.

right now it is Brendan Shanahan with 11 goals in 12 games if you look at all my answers which i no nobody will but someone asked the question do you think Shanny will score over 50 goals and i believe i was the only one that said yes with Jagr he might even score 60.

I think Brendan Shanahan is the best player in the league. He is the complete hockey player who leads by example. He is a scoring power forward who will not back down to anybody.
