I am a big proponent of animal welfare, but I am logical enough to know that there are humane and inhumane ways of testing on animals. Did you know that advances in medicine, surgery, and all sorts of other areas are a result of testing on animals??? I think if you hard-core against animal testing, then you need to be volunteering for medical testing. Would you take a medicine or use a product that you know had never been tested on anything (human or best before)??? I'd be leary of it.
Typically, products that are being developed by respectable companies go through everytype of testing that they can BEFORE they try it on anytype of animal. If it looks like it will be safe, they move on to mice, then possibly rabbits and then monkeys. Of course, it doesn't go on being tested on higher animals if there is any sort of reaction. Only continued success will lead to the eventual testing on animals.

Unfortunately, some companies take advantage of their legal ability to test new products on animals, and treat their test animals as if they are disposable. These companies need to be put out of business. But the companies who adhere to humane testing processes do so with the animal's interests in mind, and will not test on animals when alternatives are available. They take care of their test animals, provide veterinary care and consult with professionals to ensure the animals have as comfortable a life as possible.

Be sure to research all sides of animal testing. The internet is overwhelmingly filled with horror stories, but it takes a little more digging to find out what the standards are, which companies abide by them, and how to find out which companies do not have an animal welfare program in place.

Good luck with your project!

it depends how you look at it

animal testing is usually seen as cruel because it can be. Often times they test drugs or make up. Some are tested for other cruel things that most people dont even understand.

On the other hand...i dont see the problem with animal testing if its for the animal (such as dog meds on dogs.)

Scientist basically try anything we use on animals first before it is released for sale to the public.

Examples:

Putting make up in rabbits eyes

Burning animals with chemicals to see the affects

Drug testing on animals

You name it I'm sure it has been done to an animal. From small rodents to primates.

Check out http://www.peta.org They are an extreme animal rights group. They always have some cruelty photos on their site.

Animal testing is cruel and inhumane. How someone could ever even think about testing a product they wouldn't test on a human first? People like that are jerks.

If you want my thoughts i think that animal testing is wrong and inhumane.Animals are living breathing organisms like us.Although I can not think of an alternative, I do not think that it is right to treat what god gave as a pal like a person uses a computer.
