My ds is 4 months at 15lbs. I am worried that he is too small for a baby who had a birth weight of 9lbs 4oz, it's not like he is tall either; he is just within the normal length, he doesn't have those chubby arms and cute big folds. I have read on some sites that baby's weight should double by 4 months, but on other sites, it said by 6 months. I am confused. I would like to know your babies weight at birth, their length, their weight at 4 months, whether they are breastfed or bottlefed and if your babies have/had those cute chubby arms/face already by that age.

Actually, if your child has a high birth weight, he may not double his birth weight until he is close to a year old. If, your son is growing normally and is within the normal percentiles, then, you don't have much to worry about.

My own children were all huge babies (8 1/2 pounds, 9 1/2 pounds and 11 1/2 pounds) and all grew at normal weights (doubled birth weight at 6 months to one year). In fact, my youngest didn't double her birth weight until she was a year. She started life so big (11 lbs, 8 oz) that she only gained a pound per month for a year and she was still in the 90th percentile for height and weight.

Don't stress, he's fine!

double at 6 months, tripple t 1 year. That is just a general rule of thumb, all babies are diffrent. Do not stress over how big or small your baby is, unless the pediatrcian thinks there may be a problem

My daughter was 6 lbs at birth, 19 inches
she weighed 9lbs at 4 months
she was breast feed
My son was 6lbs , 11oz at birth 19 inches long
he weighed 10lbs at 4 months and also was breast feed

My oldest was 8'2 at birth and 14 at 4 months (bottlefed)
He's 6 yrs and weighs 45 lbs
He's "normal"
My youngest was 7'4 at birth and 21 at 4 months (breastfed-I should've marketed my milk!!! lol)
He's 3 and weighs 40 lbs
He's "normal"

Just depends on the babies.

your baby is a healthy weight for 4 months, so don't worry too much!! The rule of thumb(and I asked the doc) is that they look for the birthweight to double by 6 months, and triple by a year(because wieght gain slows down towards the end of the first year).

I believe it's five months. My baby is 5 months old and she weighs around 17 lbs. She weighed 8 lbs 6.5 ounces when she was born and 21 inches long. I am currently breastfeeding her. She is full of chubbiness right now. I wouldn't worry, every baby is different, it doesn't mean there is something wrong.

6 months double and triple by their first birthday that's what my doc said, but every baby is different i think. my boy is 3 months and is 17lbs-13oz 25 long. he was10lbs-8oz 22 long at birth.
