Go to your nearest community college, get a copy of the curriculum offered and ask to make an appointment w/an career advisor. They can give you a test to help determine your best academic field and interests. Hopefully, you'll find a health care profession interesting to you as there are openings in the health care field all over the country. Vet tech is another field that is growing with a wide range of possibilities. Good luck!

While I agree that you must choose something you can live with year-after-year and enjoy, there are some basic classes that will help you succeed and move up in any field. Most are basic classes. If you EVER want to own a business...you MUST take a basic accounting class so no one can rip you off! Basic computer skills is another must. So many blue collar workers cannot move up because they don't have those skills needed to do the spreadsheets and letter writing, emails, graphs etc...one quarter is all it takes! Depending on the work you will be doing - a basic office machines course will help you get around any office. Go to your counselor at school, they will have some good tests you can take that will help lead you in the right direction for career choices and where your interests will best fit. A good counselor will be able to tell you if you are headed in the right direction and tell you what colleges are best in those studies...etc...

First off-even if making money is your number one goal-make sure you are doing something YOU WANT TO DO. you would be suprised at how many people become business majors or something that can ensure a career and end up hating where their life has taken them. first, pick something that you could see your self doing, oh , say, 50 years from now! what comes naturally to you, what do you enjoy doing, and dont feel like its a task in the process? then, you can go from there, and then you will be able to find an angle that's right for you, that will lead you down a path to a career. By the way, a lot of lucrative and satisfying careers do not require a college degree!

Go to college. Just attending will give you some direction. Patterns will develop wherein you excel at classes you like and do poorly in classes you don't. Colleges are very good at just that.

The friends you meet there will also influence you - sometimes for the better, sometimes not. But don't underestimate the benefits of that.

Sales, maybe? You must be interested in something! Do you like to watch TV? - media studies. Do you like to shop? - fashion or clothes something. Do you like to eat? - catering? Lying around doing nothing much? Become a holiday rep and get paid to lie around beaches all around the globe. If you think about it enough, you will find there is something out there for you. Good luck
