I just applied as a salesmen there. I'm young and never really have dealt with a commissioned based company, which I assume they are. Is there an hourly rate as well? Has anyone worked for them? I hear they are in Fortune 500's best companies to work for so i'm pretty excited...

Since there is no negotiation over price, the sales people get paid a flat per car they sale. The trick is selling in volume and hoping there is a car they(the Co.) really want to get rid of(been there too long, started costing them money)(decreasing in value)that they are willing to pay extra bucks to move(called a spiff or bonus car). They may get a small salary, but most dealerships work off of draws-You know If you get paid $300. per week then at the end of the month (4 wk work period) that $1200. will come out of your commission check and yes you pay taxes on all of it.And if you get paid spiffs or bonuses that taxes were not taken out of you can look forward to getting a 1040 form at the end of the year.It use to be anything over $500. you had to pay taxes on .I haven't been out of the business long though so it's probably still the same. Good Luck with your new job! The car business can be really fun, there is no better feeling than when you have just sold a car to a customer that is excited and happy with everything and especially you. That's also a good way to get more customers by asking your happy customers to send their family and friends to see you when they are ready to buy a car. It's truly the best advertisement.
Start everyday with a good Attitude' and smile!!!

I LOVE Car Max...I will ONLY buy a car from them because of the service they offer.

They are probably like any other Auto dealership who will pay you a small salary for the first 3-6 months then you become a commission only salesperson!
