Despite heavily covering Kerry's "botched joke," media largely ignored Boehner's comments that "the generals on the ground," not Rumsfeld, are to "blame for what's happening in Iraq". Hey Boehner why not do the normal thing and blame Clinton? Please don't insult the troops.

I asked a similar question but then deleted it without reading any of the answers. I decided I was sick of the Kerry questions and didn't want to help perpetuate a new set of questions about *****. I mean Boehner.

You beat me to this question! Bush, Cheney, or Rumsfeld won't take any blame for their Iraq disaster. It's always, "the other guy." But to blame the generals, good grief!

Generals are not "the troops". The troops take orders from the Generals, and the generals are open for criticism, they are fair game, because their decisions can make or break the war. The troops on the otherhand are not open to criticism, they take the generals orders, they cannot be called stupid

I guess he thought it better to blame the troops instead of his buddy Rummy.

Because "the blame game" is a Republican sneer (and a Republican way of governing).
