Jesus was to them the way Osama bin Laden is to us.

If you're writing for a newspaper that would have been published in Roman times -- even if it is just make-believe -- you should really check out your spelling and your grammar. Even in Roman times, the scribes were careful about that.
If so much material comes up, why don't you try reading some of it and getting a few clues? I'll give you one suggestion. It was a Roman centurion who passed Jesus a sponge, wet with vinegar, to dampen his lips as he hung on the cross. It was an act of kindness, as that was what the centurions themselves drank to quench their thirst.

I won't write your paper for you but you could tackle the assignment from several directions.
Something like this might work..
Lunatic put to death for inciting crowds...
Dateline Rome:
Today a deranged carpenter from Nazareth was executed by the roman guard for inciting the people to riot. This has become a common problem in recent years during the Jewish holy week or Passover.. blah blah blah.
You could go on to give the story some human interest by giving so details into the life of Jesus and creating some doubt as to the wisdom of the execution.
....
Another way to tackle it would be kinda like a Newspaper Tabloid..
The headlines could read something like this..
Carpenter walks on water..Saves fishermen..
FEEDS 5000 with five fish..
Water turns to Wine at wedding .. Couple blames local man..
Man heals thousands could this be the MESSIAH!!!
... You get the drift..

The Romans were threatened that Jesus offered something that the Romans didn't have, so he was prosecuted because he was a threat to their society. They could not keep control of the people when he was showing them a different way.

Jesus' teachings generally conflicted with the Roman ideology of culture in which centers on materialism. They saw Jesus as an entity who can alter their way of life.

according to the bible, most people in Rome had conflicting opinions about Jesus and Christianity
But since the emperors were against it at first, think of Jesus as some heretic who will go to hell and be punished by the gods for spouting lies

in my opinion he was viewed as someone who stirred the political waters to much-they thought him a fanatic-hystory shows there were many men claiming to be the messiah. They needed to keep him under their heel to keep everyone happy. I dont think they cared much about his religious beliefs at all-they were just trying to keep him on the outside of their world and save their government positions ect...

When Jesus was alive? Not much. Big empire and Judea was a small, though trouble making, part of it.
