I've used glow in the dark polish to mark my light switch and I put a dot of red polish on the washing machine dial when the paint wore off.
One time I painted my father's toe nails bright red when he had surgery. I know that's not what you asked but I just find that funny.

My partner always uses Clear fingernail polish over scratches on the paint work on his car.
It helps seal the paint edges again and stops rust. :D

You can put clear fingernail polish on the inside of a ring so it doesn't turn your finger green. My friend used it on her glasses to cuz they were turning the side of her head blue, so you know it's the same concept. Sorry that's all I can think of. ;)

I am allergic to nickel, so I use clear nail polish on the back of costume jewlery so that I don't break out from the nickel in the metal.

If an inexpensive pair of pierced earrings irritate, I paint the posts with clear polish--problem solved!

well one time that I remember my distributor cap got cracked when I went through a river.
My GF had some nail polish and I used it to glue the cap back together and get home.
