two good books to read are Twilight and New Moon written by Stephenie Meyer. It is a story about a girl who falls in love with a vampire. Very, very, very good books. Here is what the summery of Twilight
Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife -- between desire and danger.
For New Moon
For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is even more dangerous than Bella could ever have imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of one evil vampire, but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realize their troubles may be just beginning...

I'm looking forward to reading "The Inheritance of Loss" by Kiran Desai since she's won the 2006 Man Booker Prize. I hope I won't be disappointed again like the last time (months ago) I read "Disgrace" which had won the Booker Prize in 1999.

Just started the memoir "Reading Lolita in Tehran," which is interesting so far. Lots of nonfiction on my list recently, which is unusual for me. "My Life in Orange" was fantastic, about a guy who spent his childhood as part of a cult commune. I also read Michael J. Fox's autobiography, "Lucky Man," which was good. I like him as an actor and a person, and it was interesting to read about how he sees himself. I have a coupon for Borders' book store that I need to use in the next couple of weeks, so I'm doing some serious soul-searching about what to buy. I used to buy books all of the time until I got to be responsible and adult; now it's a major decision when I allow myself to buy books!

I just finished "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter" by Carson McCullers. I felt very VERY depressed upon finishing it. It is not a happy story at all, but it's still a wonderful story. I'm now reading "This Side of Paradise" by Fitzgerald.
