When he is older he can be treated by a plastic surgeon who can do an operation this help this condition. These are the possible treatments:
# Testosterone stimulation may be tried if the cause is hormonal. If the penis grows during a three month trial then a normal penis size and function can result.
# Surgical reconstruction and hormone treatment could also be an option.
# Gender assignment with no surgery to change the anatomy or gender reassignment may be considered.
# Genetic syndromes will dictate treatment outcomes to a degree.
# Psychological counseling and support for the family and child should be part of a good medical treatment program.
People who have experience of intersex issue feel strongly that reassignment should only happen when the child is old enough to make an informed choice themselves. It is for these reasons and because the treatment can have such profound results that a second medical opinion may well be helpful.

Micropenis is often due to inadequate testosterone in 2nd and 3rd trimester of fetal growth. There may be a genetic cause. Although there is no gene per se that causes micro penis, there are a number of associated syndromes. An example is androgen insensitivity, where the fetus started as a male but was insensitive to testosterone (the male hormone), or syndromes caused by chromosomal abnormalities such as Klinefelter’s Syndrome, Turner’s Syndrome or Down’s Syndrome. The medical team can investigate the many possible causes and carry out tests that will inform future management and treatment.

I watched something about this on Discovery health a while back, 20 years ago they would have done a gender reassignment surgery, today w/ hormones he may be able to obtain a normal penis size if that happens he will be able to have a normal sex life.

I am so sorry to hear that. But I read the article and it shows that there are hormones he can be given to resolve the issue. If the hormones to not work and he is left with a small penis than he will most likely be teased, have less self confidence, or develop some sort of penis complex-because that seems to be the big deal in the male world(size of penis). In that case, I would suggest counseling and definitely put a lot of focus on how he is such a wonderful person who has so many qualities-which might help compensate for some of his inadequate feelings. Maybe help him or get him very involved in something(like a sport, karate) so that he does have something else to concentrate on? I wish you the best.

that is a good question. go to a nutritionist you should ask a person that is permitted to answer questions as important as that. on yahoo people act smart so they can get best answers and in the end the person is wrong and something bad happens to people.

Looking on that web site, there seems to be a lot of hope here. Request a pediatric specialist and move fast. Good luck and I will pray for you and the baby.THIS IS NOT HOPELESS.

this is the first time i've heard of this, i don't have any answer to your actual question. but i hope you have a lot of support and i would certainly recommend getting more than one opinion before you make any crucial life decisions for your son. once you are educated comfortably on this go with your gut and don't make any decisions you are not 100% secure with. i wish you and your family all the best. and if you believe in god i hope you will let him lead you and comfort you through this.

I think you should at least have brains enough to ask a doctor these questions rather than strangers on an online message board, that is IF it's a serious question. As a parent I know that I would be talking with a doctor and not relying on what strangers on a online message board said.

I saw that on a tv show(dont laugh, it was based on fact) and the parents got a cosmetic surgeon to transform the child into a girl and treated him as such. he didnt find out until he/she was 14, and had been taking hormone pills to make her more femanine. I advise against this and just wanted to show you that whatever you do will be the right decision, as long as you keep his future in mind... will he be able to reverse what you did if he so chooses later in his life?
