I think everyone would like recognition in some field. whether it is something a long the lines of a rock star, famous actor, athlete, writer, or politician. The list goes on... There is some major aspiration for all fields of work, and it is only human to dream, and strive for those dreams. Some people, (most people) give up on those ideas, and settle for something closer to grasp. Not to say they don't dream about it from time to time.

I don't wish to be famous, I wish to be known, but not famous. Fame sounds awful to me. I am definitley an introvert. As an artist I want my work to be known and recognized but my inner desires have nothing to do with fame. My true inner desires. To desire fame is selfish, I myself am selfish (unintentionally, maybe, but selfish) but I do not believe everybody desires fame and fortune. Fame is unimportant to me, I think people's inner desires are important and genuinely good even if they are selfish, So if becoming famous is really that important to them and is a true inner desire then so be it. Some good will come of it. But fame isn't always selfish, there are good causes for wanting fame, though I have none, so I do not seek fame.

Secretly, I sometimes think I want to be famous, but then the reality sets in.
I like being able to walk down a street and not have people take my pics.
I enjoy having a private life and not having every mistake I make broadcast on 10 channels.
So, I guess, no. I like being the unique individual I am in the small town I live in.

No. Our inner desire is only for acceptance of us by all the others. Nothing more . Nothing less.
But, a transformation takes place when the number of people , who start accepting you, slowly swells. It is when we start to feel a certain ego centric thoughts and start to feel important. That is it. You are branded as famous. All movie stars fall in this category.
As for me I will be happy if accepted by a small group and if I can consider myslef "famous ' in this small group I am happy.

I think everybody would like to be acknowledged in some way - personally I'd like to win a Nobel prize - but I guess many or most people wouldn't want the constant attention some celebrities get.

The level of a person's desire to be famous is inversely proportional to their IQ.

This is the human craving found among all individuals.
I am no exception, I wish to be famous , so that my family will bask in my glory.

I think it's because no one wants to die unknown.
We all desire to be remembered for something. And sadly, celebrity status is the most obvious way to do this to most.

No, I wouldn't want to be famous. I'm a "people person", but I need my privacy too. I'm happy with a quiet, "average" life.

Used to be, but not any more. There are more important things in life than fame and (yes) fortune.
