It is hard to be the Jack of All Trades. I tried it in my younger years and it did not work. You are never good enough at anything. I think it is better to evaluate your life and skills. Find out what you are truly good at and what you love to do. Love even comes before good. You have to love what your doing or your life will never be full and satisfied.
To find a good career write lists. List down your skills. Make a list of Careers you would Love. Make a list of what it takes for the top three careers you picked. Now which is attainable?
Dont give up those that are hard and take time. But dont follow those that make no sense for you just because you like them (like astronaut).
Create your life around your happiness and the happiness of your family.
Find what truly makes you happy. Owning your own business (patterned after your hobby), a top education, travel, working with people, working from home, etc. Then go for it. Narrow down your best attributes. Remember that if you keep your life too broad you run the risk of being bad in all areas.
Example:
You want a husband who stays at home, 8 kids cause you love kids and are good with kids, you love your computer so you want to be working on it all day, and you want to home teach all your kids and have lots of money and persue your hobby of sewing clothes for charity.
This will not work even for the most talented person. It does not make sense at all. You can not do all things and be all things. Yes, this is exaggerated but you get the point.
Concentrate on your talent and loves and put a timeline to your life (married at 29, two kids at 31, perfect career by 35, more time for family by 40, retired by 60). Chart it out and review it every once in awhille to see if you are on track.
Good Luck

First you dont ever apologize for being multi-talented.
Second decide what you like to do best and master that one thing first, if you can apply it to other trades or careers, then do so. For example you may receive a business degree then apply it to anything from a job at NASA to the entertainment field. Or if you choose to be an RN (registered nurse) you can also be an Lawyer and work with a law firm for investigation on medical reports for malpractice suits and you need a medical degree either a nurse or doctor. Third you could take flying lessons and become a private pilot or commercial airline pilot but in the meantime you could be a Flight Attendent and get a paycheck.
John Travolta is a commercial airline pilot and flies jets, but he is also a major actor and an academy award winner. Life is full of journeys to take, make them sensible and not reckless, or people will look at you like a "Jack of all trades and a master of none".
Just take your time on these adventures and make a goal to reach and know your limitations. Read the book written about Howard Hughes, a brilliant man, and inventor, great example of the ups and downs of the multi-talented.

YOU are relating your life to work, that is only a part of your life.
it is a true saying that the sum of the parts always equals the whole.
there is no right answer to your question, how you live your life is dependant upon many things, the first is you,for you as a human are the prime mover,it is you that will create a life for yourself and hopefully others.the best advice would be to caste out the negativity
adopt a philosophy of positivity, and you will find your glass will become half full and never half empty.regards LF

If you're good at many things, try them all, see how you like them, and pick the one you're best at and most satisfied with.
Of course, nobody ever said that we have to go down just one path career wise. Variety is the spice of life.

if i had the ability you speak of i would choose something challenging, with steady growth so i would continue learning new and exciting things like some cutting edge medical engineering field or astrophysics.
however i do not possess this ability so i have a humdrum job and rely on my children to supply the learning and excitement

Follow your bliss (Joseph Campbell). Seriously, when you find your path (or your path finds you!), you know you are doing the "right" thing, things start falling into place. Do you have Deja Vu's?
Go for it. You are a child of the universe.
Peace
Love

I need this answer too. I'm stuck being a jack of all and master of none and it's starting to be a real problem. Adding this to my watchlist.

Ever hear of the Renaissance man? He is a person who can do anything well. Thomas Jefferson was considered as such.
