i know the difinition but whats an example of it?

Anything from the periodic table is pure. these are all basic elements that can't be broken down into other elements. examples: hydrogen, nitrogen, iron, zinc and gold.

Okay. Sodium is a pure substance because it contains only the element sodium (Na). Sugar is not because it is a crystalline substance that contains carbon and a number of other ingredients as well.
Pure, distilled water is a pure substance, milk is not.
