Your problem if how to find out -4/15 th time of positive 9 or simply 9 as in algebra when no sign is used the number is treated as positive. -4/15 of 9= (-4/15)*9 =(-4*9)/15= -12/5 [after reducing] =-2 2/5 ans.

Because the signs of the factors are different, your answer will be negative (if they were both positive or both negative, your answer would be positive).

Then: 4/15 x 9/1 = (4 x 9)/(15 x 1) = 36/15 = 2 6/15 = 2 2/5

Answer is negative two and two fifths.
(I hate trying to type fractions!)

PS my arithmetic is actually correct - four nines are 36, 36 divided by 15 is two and six remainder, and six divided by 15 is two fifths.

set it up like this:
-4/15 x 9/1. multiply across (-4x9) over (15x1) and you get -36/15. you could reduce and get -2 6/15 and break it down further to -2 2/5 (divide 6 and 15 by three since that is the only number that can go into both) or leave it as is (-36/15)
