How come in the movie, planet of the apes, the guy comes back to earth and its ruled by MONKEYS! I dont get it!

Ok, he get's back in his ship on the planet of apes in the city of the apes timeline where his space station is in a wreck in the desert. He get's the monkey out of his flyer, that had went throught he time portal all this time and hands him over to the apes, they think he is the ape god..forgot his name. This guy thinks that he can go back in time before he left the ship. He sets the time setting in his capsule and flies off going through yet another time portal wormhole or something...then bam..lands in his own time, but alas, things have changed..it's not earth as he knew it due to the fact he handed over the ape to the other apes from the other timeline, thsu changing the past and the future for him and the apes. now earth is ran by apes..even abraham lincoln has an ape nose..moral..you cant change the past..or something...anyway before I confuse myself..lol!

When he returned to Earth he discovered centuries had passed. During this time all cats & dogs were wiped out by a virus. People of Earth missed having pets and replaced them with apes that had evolved into an intelligent simian species (thanks to ape refugees Cornelius & his mate Zira who fled to Earth centuries earlier). Since these apes were inteligent they formed a revolution, dominated humans and took over the planet.

humans, being in-compassionate and inhuman, destroyed themselves..
(the statue of liberty almost cover up by the sea and sand at the end...)

the species nearest the top of the food chain is then the apes..
Charlton Heston scream at seeing this about how horrifying it is NOT on another planet but on earth and that humans didn't learn to get along.!
(at the top of the food chain the only species that is a threat is themselves!)

he figures out that it wasnt a planet of the apes after all, but earth had fallen to monkeys, its a twist ending

He was pulled into the future and somehow monkeys "evolved" and took over the planet and made humans their slaves.

the monkeys are evolved and are left over after the humans kill themselves off!
