hey, back in the eighties we had a couple of different stuff. basically your best bet is to get a sweat shirt, and cut the top off at an angel so its low on your shoulder. then wear an undershirt under it. blue jeans and some big hoop earings.
Do a search for madona and eighties and copy the pictures. she was the eighties icon. Oh and hightop shoes were really popular.

ALL OF THE ABOVE ANSWERS ARE GREAT!
But I was in high school smack dab in the middle...
the look was "Prep" with the "triangle teased bangs" and the back with a body wave perm..ala Madonna -like a virgin/borderline dayz
The next look was "second hand store chic" i forgot what that look was called..maybe sorta bohemian look?? remember it was so cool to get a vintage baggy rain coat from goodwill & the like with vintage pins??
The "jock" look NEVER goes out of style..
Then there was the MTV look...remember spandex?? worn proudly by Van Halens lead singer?? i forgot his name??parachute pants ala MC Hammer?? the Billy Idol platnum blonde on guyz...spike hairdoos....long rat tails at the back or sides of our hairstyles...
that stuff is real, it really happened. I wz there..
Your best best is to check out the BREAKFAST CLUB DVD with the brat pak in it..Molly Ringwald was our leader ....it has ALL of the looks of the '80's .
And don't forget "Dynasty" do a Krystal Karrington frosted bob & padded shoulders...& everyone will know where your heads at...
And even some fragrances made big big splashes then...Obsession-Opium-Poison- Sunfloweres-Polo-and Giorgio Beverly Hills.....we choked on that stuff!!
but i think it may b a little too late???? tomorrow is already here...

Madonna was a big inspiration in the 80's so if you follow her styles for back then, then you will be just dressed just perfect for the decades party. Have Fun!

button up shirts, like men wear with suits, and turn the collar up. You can also put a big knot in the bottom off to one side.

I use to wear high top sneakers and long shirts with little clips to tie them up on one side, or a tank top with a cut up sweater,

They wore tank tops like Madonna did. Also, sweaters were big. Oversized ones. Really big sweaters. Often, the sweater would be pulled down on one side to expose one shoulder.
