Because the receptionist is the first impression people get, whether on the phone or in person, about your business, its employees, and how they are going to be treated by the entire staff. The receptionist represents the company and its attitudes. You need someone who is cognizant of that and that person would be me. Very few realize the importance of that first impression and I understand it completely.

THIS IS a classical question...to trap you...one way or the other..to tell the the interviewer what he wants to hear. then, tell him...exactly what he wants to hear -- that of course depends..on the interview..what he asked you before...and what he positively commented on....let me be very specific...during the interview...he might have asked you if you come late or are punctual -- obviously this trait is important to him...now, when he asks you the trap question -- why should i hire you for this position -- you say sir, i like to contribute to your esteemed company, i am punctual, i like to serve people and put on a positive face on inquiries...i understand the position of receptionist is important..it is the first face of your company...etc...etc....hope you get the idea....only you can determine what to say...depending on the circumstance...and the conversation you already had with him. good luck.

I would take my strongest abilities and let her know what I excel at. But if you're going to a job interview, always remember to prepare an answer for the question "What are your weaknesses?" as well.

Only say this if it's true:
"I've researched your company and know how you treat your employees... I'd very much like to be a part of it and believe that it would be a good fit for both of us."
