at conception. its weird to say that its not a real baby until birth. my aunt lost twins when she was 7 months along. they were totally formed, and in modern times, probably would have survived. how could they not be real people? at the moment of conception, those couple of cells have total potential of life.

I have several points to make...first, look online at pictures of babies in the womb. You can type in pics of babies or the week and gestation. You can see for yourself it is a baby fully formed. I think those who believe life begins at birth are deceived by this worlds denial so we can continue to "choose" whether we want this baby or not. When the baby is an inconvenience we call it a fetus or tissue, when it is wanted it is a baby. What hypocrisy!
Another point, if it is not a baby then why have we now passed a law where a woman murdered while pregnant the murderer receives a double homicide?
Why do we call it a baby born at 40 weeks alive and healthy, and also a baby when it is born premature and lives. If it was born at 27 weeks and lived it is still a baby. When did it become so?
Who are we anyway to try and decide when life begins...if we try to make our own time, other than conception, it opens up doors of depravity we will soon regret. Where has morality gone if we can decide when a life should be allowed to be lived? Do you want to live in a society where people can decide or choose when someone should live or die? I believe we are all created equal and all unborn should be protected by the constitution! And I believe the founders of our country are grieved at the disgrace and inhumanity we allow. We treat animals better than babies. We should all grieve at this!

The question has both medical and political answers, and these answers do not necessarily agree.
A typical biology textbook definition of "life" usually incorporates a few factors: the ability to take in and metabolize nutrients, the capacity to reproduce, the capacity to grow, and the ability to respond to stimuli. By such a definition a fertilized zygote is certainly alive, and life would thus begin at conception.
Many political arguements nevertheless state that the point in development at which human life shall be deemed worthy of legal protection may be quite different. The rationale may have nothing to do with biology. Politicians and judges have utilized other standards, and cultural norms play no small part in the point of development chosen.

Alot of people have different views on this but here is where I stand. The moment an egg is fertilized it becomes a living being. The bible says " you knit ME together in my mothers womb"..I think that says that God looks at the baby in its mothers womb as a person, a human with a life. Many people believe that until a heart starts beating it's not considered a baby, in that case, when a loveed one dies and thier heart stops, are they no longer human to you? Do you all the sudden consider them a " cell" ? Just an opinion....do the right thing : )

I believe at conception (or technically the heartbeat, which is like 11 days after conception or something like that)..... whoever says life begins at birth has never been pregnant.
When I was pregnant with my daughter she'd kick me like she was a soccer player and my hip was the ball. How could she have done that if she weren't alive?

it depends on the culture and religion. i have a friend who is 5 months pregnant and she says that her baby is now 5 months old, and she said that her birthday will be celebrated on teh day she was conceved, not the day she comes out of her. some say that life of a baby begins 40 days after conseption because that is when the fetuss is "filled with blood" and the heard starts pumping
