How do come up with that garbage? Everyone knows that the midterm elections are close, so far as the balance of the U.S. senate and the House are concerned. Some individual "races" are clearcut, such as Hillary Clinton in New York vs. Republican John Spence, and Republican Richard Lugar (unopposed) in Indiana. But the four or five critical U.S. Senate races are too close for pollsters to call. Both parties are trying to get out their own votes.

I haven't heard one Republican predict a Democratic landslide. In fact, it's the G.O.P. contention that their party is a shoe-in. And the Kerry "botched joke" probably reinforces that belief. However, everyone needs to go to the polls. Even one vote can make a difference in an election.

Convincing people of a landslide is more likely to convince people who like the potential winning party to go out in force and vote. No one likes to vote for a party that is likely to lose. However they love to vote for winners.
That is why third party candidates are hard to get elected.
