She probably thought it looked like a peanut too. Infact, unless she was fairly far along (20-28 weeks) babies really just look like squirmy blobs with little blobs for arms and legs. I would say no, you are not hurting your sister's feelings by calling the baby peanut. Topics to stay away from while she is pregnant: her weight gain, how big or small she is in relation to other pregnant people you know, her mood swings, and talk about miscarriage. Other than that, be supportive, you're on the right track. Congrats.

No I don't think it is offensive - a lot of people call their baby at this stage a peanut. Some call them a jelly bean too.
Also - congrats to you and your sister!! Trust me - until you become a mother - being an AUNT is one of the best feelings in the world!! Even after you have your first child - being an aunt is a very special thing.

Nah it is sweet! Everyone nicknames babies. Everything from monkey to bunny to peanut to who knows what? Peanut is not an ugly thing to call the baby.

it is ultra sound and I would not think peanut is offensive. It might actually stick as a nick name. LOL. check out: http://www.babycenter.com they have great information about babys growing. In about a few weeks it will look nothing like a peanut. Glad you are so involved in your sisters pregnancy. She will like to have someone to talk to. good luck.

I called my baby many names during my pregnancy based on how big he was at the time: peanut, pinto bean, lime, etc. Your sister probably isn't offended by it, more than anything she probably thinks it's endearing. After all, you are the baby's Aunt! I wouldn't worry about it at all.
