well.. it all depends when you go. I usually go March - July which is real cheap .. and perfect weather. For me.. I pay around 700$ round trip from New Orleans to Miami to Sao Paulo. If you're lucky and live near a large city like.. Miami .. or Washing Dc.. New York etc .. your flight to Brazil should be around 500 - 600$ .. if you try to go around a big holiday such as christmas you can spend up to $1500.

I use sidestep.com ... for my trips.. cheapest i've found so far.

as for your passport.. just go to your post office.. and ask for a passport application. The application will ask for some specific type of pics of you. Just go to the photo section of wallgreens or walmart and tell them you need passport pics done.. it will cost maybe $10. Fill out the rest of the application and mail it in. The Passport will cost maybe $60.. not sure. But it will last you 10 years. You'll recieve your passport in about 2weeks - 1 month.

for your visa.. type into a search engine "Brazilian Cousulates in the US" .. Or wherever you might live. A site should come up listing all the Cousulates.. choose the city nearest you. They should have a webpage.. with all the info .. and an application you can print out and send in. If not.. call them. The passport is much easier to fill out. The visa is soooo specific.. so if you have any questions what soever .. call them.. so nothing goes wrong. It will cost $100. you'll have to send them your passport (thats why you get the passport 1st) so they can stamp the visa in it. and you'll also have to send with it your original birth certificate. There are many types of visas.. but you'll prob just need a Tourist visa if you're just visiting. With a tourist visa you can stay for 1month.. 3 months if you extend it. The visa will last 5 years. So you can go to brazil and come back as many times as you like within 5 years.

Once you send it in.. it will take .. maybe another 2weeks - 1 month ( like the passport.) to come back. Now.. once you recieve your visa you have 90days to use it. If you dont go to Brazil within 90 days the visa expires.

confusing .. but DEFF WORTH THE TRIP ...

Boa Sorte

Just got back from Brazil and had a ball. Depending on where you live, the best prices can be found flying out of NYC, Miami, Atlanta and Dallas. The price will also depend on what city you are going to. Rio lives up to all of the hype. Flight from NYC $825 on American. Hotel @ Sheraton Rio Leblon = $665 US (7 Days). A week in Rio on the beach = $Priceless.................

I have been to Brazil twice in the last 12 months :
I used Off to Brazil, their contact is Carol info@offtobrazil.com. I found the company to be excellent. She manages to get to get tickets for about $900.

You need to apply for a passport, go to the Post Office.

Then apply for a visa at the Brazilian Consulate.
check out:http://www.brasilemb.org/
Or check with Carol if she can do it .
Brazil is a great country

You normally can get a better deal and advice (which you can not from the big, generic travel sites) from agents that specialize in Brazil, which you can find several online.
Try viviting www.brol.com and talk to an agent.
