viruses are most likely the culprit. but let me ask you this. have you recently installed a new program when the freezing started? if so it could be the new program is conflicting with another program. DO YOU EVER GET A BLUE SCREEN?go to the start then to run, then type in msconfig. see what programs are loading up when you turn on the computer. remember what programs are loading. then uninstall the new program and see if it stops freezing up. Oh and when the computer is running see if the fan is running if it is not the cpu is over heating but if that was the case it would shut off on you in most cases.

The problem is that the computer is 3 years old. Technology has been coming so far because it moves in leaps and bounds. Your computer is almost ancient in computer terms, and you didnt describe any causes for this, so try running less programs at once, removing unneccesary programs, defragmenting, virus scanning, and upgrading your RAM. If none of this helps, then you'll need either a new hard drive or processer, in which case you may as well buy a new computer (all the information currently stored on your computer is on the hard drive).

If you have like 10 browser windows and 10 more other files open at the same time on Windows machine it can slow it down.
Save and close.
Reboot.
Defragment (if running Windows).
Look for viruses/spyware.
If none of the above helps - erase some programs that you don't use, or get a faster computer.

my advice is to first delete the cookies on your computer by goin on internet and clicking tools then internet options and go to general then click delete cookies then follow any on-screen prompts. Second try restoring your system to factory setting first save all of your files you want to keep though or you may lose them. Third if you don't want to restore your system buy an external hard drive and save things to that. If all else fail buy a new computer or call the manufacture and ask for help.

The best short term fix is to add case fans, and to run Ad-Aware. Once in the "regular" windows, and then again in "safe mode". Then run Spy-bot Search & Destroy the same way. Use AVG Antivirus it will clean up after McAfee or Norton. Get the programs online, they are freeware.

Goto start/settings/control panel/add remove programs
Look for adware/spyware, things that say toolbar or internet excelerator or smiley central.
Update your virus defs, then run a scan
Do a disk cleanup by going to start/programs/accessories/system_tools/disk_cleanup
Check all boxes except for "compressed old files"
Restart
That will be a great start!
