Hi. It gives you more storage space and allows you to backup important data to both. Useful if you have a failure.

two drives or a partitioned drive?
Most people who know a little something about computers will tell you that it's a good idea to have a second drive to keep all you files on.

If you primary drive goes down through coruption you can re-install the OS without losing any of your personal files or at worse replace the drive.

you can have up to 4 drives in your pc but that takes out your cd rom, another reason is multi boot systems where you have more than one operating system installed, this would best be done on a partitioned drive

There are alot of things that you can do. For instant, my laptop has 2. One in it and the other as external but both has been map. So when my laptop HD down, I can easy change it with no time waste. In the other hand, I can keep all personnal data in this second HD which I has to said that my data will not be lost.

I have 3, one for my Windows installation and 2 identical drives for my data.
My system automatically writes my data to both HDDS at once.
If one data drive ever fails, I can use the other to recover/restore the data upon replacement of the defective disk.
Having Windows on another drive means that if I ever have to reinstall Windows, my data will be intact/untouched.

The larger primay drive is used for the actual programs. If you have a second drive, they are often used for storing music, pictures, movies etc.

More room, also you may want to Mirror your first drive, or run another OS on a second drive. IT was more common to have two drive when drives weren't so large.
