I like birches the best. It stands out because of its nice white color. I also love Cedar.
I HATE when people ask stupid questions like that in interviews. My husband had someone ask him what kind of muffin he'd be and why. CAN YOU IMAGINE?? How bout, "can you do the job"?

"there is unrest in the forest, there is trouble with the trees,
for the Maples want more sunlight, and the Oaks ignore their pleas!"
I have an affinity for the willow, they will grow without a lot of nourishment, tho they do require water, Once established, they are hard to stop, and they will bend, but not break!
I also really like the Myrtle wood tree. Very arromatic, Green all year long. Makes good firewood, and they only grow in a few places in the world, The Pacific coast area, and in the Holy lands, (so I've been told)

Definitely not a christmas tree: what's the point of being cut off before Christmas, and then be thrown away 3 days later?
A baobab, maybe. People wouldn't cut me off, I think. Or a bonsai. Then, I would be taken care of all the time!

A money tree
(they ask weird questions and questions you don't know the answer to in job interviews, don't they?)

I wouldn't be an apple tree, always getting picked on
I wouldn't be an Oak, sturdy, but too rigid
I wouldn't be a palm, don't want monkeys climbing all over me and grabbing my hairy ****
I wouldn't be a poplar, because I am a hermit
being an elm would give me nightmares
I think I'd choose to be Bonsai...... cultivated, yet twisted :-P

I'd like Schlerophyll (that's a gum tree). They evolved to withstand extremes. Also, I live in Australia so it's close to home.

Probably a willow tree. They're romantic and beautiful, everybody knows them and most like them. And they hide themselves in their branches but look graceful doing it.
