Is the video Ipod worth buying? yes or No? Please give a good reason. I've probably read billions of reviews but all they say is "it's soo awesome" and junk. But if the Ipod video isn't worth buying please suggest better MP3 players.
I already know:
1.) The Battery Runs Out Quick
2.) The video sometimes locks out
3.) It's expensive
4.) The charger is seperate and it too is expensive
5.) Scratches easily
I need opinions!

I respect your need to find out more about your future mp3 player. Most people just buy a player based on hype or a salesman pitch when in reality the player does not meet their needs. This april i did some intensive research and my results showed that the Creative vision:m was the best choice for me over the ipod. Here are some of the reasons that put it over the
top

1. I wanted a audio and video player and even though ipod also plays video it only has a 65,000 colour screen which was pail in comparison to the high definition 265,000 colour screen of the vision.
2. I wanted feature rich player which included a built in fm radio and voice recorder which was not available on the ipod

3. sound quality is very important in an mp3 player.this is measure in a value we call signal to noise ratio.the higher the value the less distoration and the richer the sound. The vision has a sn ratio of 97 db while the ipod is 82 Db

4. you correct about thebattery life about the ipod, they have improved it in the newer model but apple has had a history of defective battery failure within the first 18 months and there are numerous civil action suites agianst apple. The vision has 4.5 hours for video and 14 hours for audio (battery life), this is respectable

5. I convert my cds to mp3 and import it into my player so music online services like itunes were not important.but the vision is play for sure certified so you can purchase music from mtv urge, rhapsody, musicmatch, puretracks if you want to

6. the ac charger for the vision is also sold seperately but you can buy a generic psp ac charger for 14 dollars and use it with the vision.the vision chargers to full capacity in 2 hours with a ac charger or you can charge it with the usb computer cable which is included.

7. the vision supports 7 video formats like divx, xivd. You can convert your dvd's easily to this format with free online conversion programs.

8. apple has drm locks on the ipod which means if you purchase music from itunes you can only uses it with ipods, apple forces
you buy thier products

9. ipods can only use itunes to transfer your music from your computer, this software has problems and crashes allot.install at your own risk

good luck in your mp3 player hunt

U should look at some other competitors: Microsoft Zune (out in mid November this year) and Zen Vision:M. The iPod Video is not worthy. I say not to go for the iPod. U should wait for the Zune. But i dont know if the Zune is worth it either. I have a ZenVisionM. It's so awesome. Putting stuff in it is so easy, cauz it supports a very wide variety of formats for music and videos (only jpg for pictures, it's enuff for me cauz it's the most common format for pictures). I put a total of over 5 hrs of movies, 700 songs and all my pictures on my Zen in just one day. With iPod video, u have to convert all the videos (except ones from the iTunes store, you have to pay for them, of course). All music for iPod have to go through iTunes. I dont know about the pictures part. The Zen completely beat the iPod. Well, except that the Zen is a lil bit thicker. But it's the price you pay to have a whole lot of features. And both the Zen and iPod scratches easily, but the Zune does not. So choose either the ZenVisionM or MicrosoftZune, not the iPod video.

I am having the same doubts and questions, this is what I think. IPODs come with all of the coolest accessories, the prices are not that crazy anymore, and if you buy it at Best Buy for $20 bucks more you can get 2 years replacement warranty. The 8gig nano is $200. I can't imagine you know that many songs, but for $50 bucks more you can have the 30 gig video IPOD. I think as long as you get it at Best Buy or somewhere that it comes with product replacement, because they do freeze up from time to time, then you should get it. If you don't need all of that get a 2 gig nano for $150. it holds 500 songs, you can't listen to them all at once so If you fill it, put everything in folders, and change them out from time to time. I hope this helps a little.

you are correct on all of them, i myself have a 30 gig video, and it does exactly what you're saying, but its a one of a kind thing. the charger, sure its expensive, but it gets rid of the hassle of charging it through your pc. if your worried about scrathes, like i was, jsut buy an EVO iSkin v3 from most big stores (futureshop, bestbuy, radioshack, etc). most other mp3 players are alot cheaper, since it doesnt have APPLE on it. but i must say, overall, im impressed with the quality of the video. now the final decision is up to you xD
