It depends what you wish to study. You need to know that there are many newer and less prestigious universities in London, and these are separate from the University of London, which runs a collegiate system. The different colleges which make up the University of London each have their own characteristics in terms of strengths in subjects, geographical location, and whether they are open to all students or just "mature" (i.e. over 21) learners.

Jumpin' Jack Flash is right in saying that the LSE and UCL are very highly regarded, but many of the others also have good reputations in particular subject areas (King's College, Queen Mary and Westfield College, Royal Holloway, Imperial College, etc). There are 20 all together.

This is not to say you should discount the "new" universities, many of whom have a lot to offer and can be quite vibrant. But if you're after a top-notch education and want to study in London you really need to be at the University of London.

The London School of Economics and University College London are two of the best universities in all of the English speaking world.

depends on what you want to study. UCL is good, Kings College is good too. Look up league tables online for scores.

considering cambridge is nowhere near london, i would say KCL
