My computer freezes when I load up something while having lots of programs already up.. Is there a way NOT to make it freeze, just to make it lag?

It's not that I haven't run disk cleanup or defragged.. I don't have a virus and my computer is new.. Most computers just lag instead of totally freeze. Is it just my computer and there is no way to fix it?

If it's freezing when you're loading up programs that can be due to RAM issues. Increase the RAM in your PC if possible, and then try increasing the virtual memory.

Problems you may have-
1. You have too many programs running; close, restart, and try again.
2. Your comptuer hasn't been restarted; your computer should be restarted every 48 hours AT LEAST! The reason for this is that the computer stores files of where you've been, history, etc. The computer will automatically delete these files, until it gets so congested that it no longer deletes them. The best way to resolve this problem is to simply restart your computer.
3. You may have unneeded files; try deleting files that you don't need in your My Documents folder (Music and pics take up a lot of space), or remove accounts or applications you don't need.
4. Virus!! Oh no! Make sure your virus protection is on and working!!
5. Your computer may be just too old. Research new ones carefully; don't buy the cheapest one you see!
I hope I've helped!! Sorry for the legnth!!

Try a defrag, should do that about once a week, also go to tools click on that, then click internet options, clear all temp internet files, history, and cookies.
Do a viris scan, this also should be done once a week.
Also go to start menu, then to "run", then type in msconfig you will see a startup tab in there, go thru the list and uncheck everything you do not need, no matter what you uncheck, it won't hurt anything, make sure you apply before closing out of that, then restart your system, anything you need will come back as you click on it. Hope this helps.
