Right now, the dv6108 is pretty cheap and a decent buy.

Intel Core solo @1.86 Ghz

Wal-Mart is coming out with a great laptop in the next week or two (I'd like to get a few for teen members of the family in school) that is really, really nice. Priced just at $398.00.
I have a BS in Network Engineering and I spend a great amount of each day on the computer. These look like a good buy at that price.

Get a Presario or a Pavillion line but be careful of the warranty and service. HP is not known for that. Would you like to take a look at Dell. They're better. Good luck!
