if you can stick your finger in and poke the fish and it doesn't move it is dead. Sometimes they float sometimes they don't it depends if the water had high oxygen content or not.

Why not? It will sink at first but after a while it will float. you can tell if its alive by the moving gill covers. Some fish sometimes have a dead look in their eyes. You'll know if it's dead if other fish are trying to eat it.

till now you elect that's lifeless, you favor to be particular till now flushing it. All you favor to do is stick your hand in and flow it around the fish. If it permits you to grab it, that's both lifeless or lack of life. attempt to cup it on your hand and convey it out the the water. A stay fish will be considered gasping for air with its gills even as out of water. do not hardship, some seconds out of water gained't kill your fish, if that's no longer already lifeless. If that's lifeless it gained't respond to any of this, then bypass ahead and flush it. And, through the way, bettas are "chinese language scuffling with fish," and one WILL kill the different if 2 are jointly. next time you purchase fish, please study this stuff.
