Okay, today in Social Studies (I'm in 7th grade), me and my group of two other girls had to preform a skit about Caius Mucius. The most you could get on the assignment was 50/50. When we were done, our Social Studies teacher wrote and cirlced 50 on our paper, which would be a 100%, and me and my group were happy. As me and my group were sitting in our seats, the next group started to do their skit. In the begining they said, "Good morning Mrs. (teacher's name) and class."
Then our teacher looked at me, motioned me to her desk, crossed out the 50, and wrote 48. Then she said
"You forgot to say Good Morning Mrs. (teacher's name). That means we had 100%, and went down to 96%. At my school that would be an A-. Why would she do that? She didn't mark any other groups' grade down because they didn't say that. Is that even, how do I say, "legal", to do? I don't know how to put it. But is a teacher allowed to do that?

I wouln't say it's predujice or racist. I go to a Catholic school, and am Russian Orthodox, but I highly doubt that's the reason. I think she's just a little crazy.

If you're concerned, point out the teacher's bias (or lapse of judgment) to your principal/headmaster in a logical fashion.

I would just ignore it. This teacher has control over you, and if you make waves, it will only get worse. She more than likely is just quirky. Not mean just not attentive enough. Is she old? Sounds like it, or maybe she is ADD. It doesn't matter, sometimes you can be right, and loose out because you rock the boat. Let it go!

Sorry to hear this. In any language, the most powerful word is someone's name. Please consider this a learning lesson that you can use.
However if you feel this strongly, kindly talk it over with your parents.

You could approach your teacher after class and simply state "Mrs.... I felt .....when you lowered my grade" It's important you use an I statement (as in I am hungry, I am scared etc.)

Good luck!

i dont think it is illegal to do that. I think courts have enough crap to deal with already, however it seems a bit prejudicial. talk to your teacher about it and ask her why? I still think that 96% is awesome though.
