I'm astounded as well...I'm 15 and I've never had a boyfriend (don't want one either), nor have I been kissed (ditto). Since I'm a scientific person, I don't see sex as a "gross" thing, but rather as a reproducing mechanism for ADULTS not CHILDREN. Having sex at a young age is definitely NOT cool...in fact, that would make you NOT cool in my dictionary...unless you were raped, but that's another story.
Okay, so kids are stupid enough to have sex, but seeing them not use condoms is even worse...again, biologically, a girl can literally have sex and get pregnant once her periods start, but continuing along the biological path, a girl CAN'T stand the experience of childbirth. Although her reproductive organs are ready, the other organ systems in the body are not, so they would "collapse". Therefore, it's more likely for a 12-year-old to die of childbirth than an 18-year-old.
Again, like I mentioned before, I'm 15 and have had my period for approximately 7 years now, but not once have I ever even THOUGHT about holding hands with a guy...let alone get kissed, have a boyfriend, and/or have sex.

It's because people stopped spanking their kids! LOL! Just kidding. Nobody knows the real reasons why this happens, but I hope someday it stops. My son is 6, so that means at the rate kids are going, he could be impregnating some girl at 12!? That's only 6 years away! That's astounding! I would die over and over again if that ever happened. We as parents need to be more open with the "sex" discussions more than ever nowadays. I have already told my son what is appropriate and what is not (I tell him that he does not need to see girls parts, undies, etc.). ALL kids get curious. They want to know what what it feels like. Parents need to tell the kids the good, bad, and the ugly about sex. Chances are, if they are not only told the risks, but also the happiness that would come from waiting till marriage, they won't be AS curious. I pray for these girls who think so little of themselves that they would rather be violated, impregnated, and diseased, then wait a few more years when sex will feel a WHOLE lot better anyway. Boys at 12,13,all the way to 25 sometimes don't want to "please" a girl, so what's the point of doing it so young? I'm sad about this. I hope I never have daughters cuz if I did, my future husband is in law enforcement, and would have no hesitation locking her up till she's 25! LOL! Stop having sex little ones!!!!!!!!!

Maybe it is the difference in the surroundings. Getting pregnant and having a baby at 11 and 12 is nothing new in the african american society. Now, day is less common than it was 50 or 60 years ago. Being that you are only 17, you should know that having sex is becoming common for ages like that and when I was that age it wasn't gross. It was what every body wanted to know about.

Why do pepole now adays yell at kids for this? 100 of years ago they where getting married and having kids at that age and now adays they see it as a wrong to have a kid that younge now I understaind having a kid that yonuge and not being married I tottaly understaind that but come on your great some odd granny was probably that age when she had her first kid. But however it is probably due to the lack of attcehion they get because most parents today are to busy with work or something and they feel unloved so they go out and have sex to feel the void or it could be that some parents tell there kids there NOT allowed to have sex and what happens when you tell a babie not to pull the lamp off a table? he/she does it instead of setting down and talking with there children about sex and everything that could happen like getting pregnant getting Hiv ect they just tell them it's bad not to do it or they'll get in trouble if they have it that doesn't help you know?

I agree with you 100%. However, seeing how some of the world works, it's terrible to say that no, not every parent cares for their children like mine did and still do. Not every parent cares what their child does.
Some kids want to be able to feel a little older than they are. Some play dress up and some play grown up-except with actions like this, they are not only playing....they are jumping in head first. I think that society as a whole has dropped self-respect in some aspects. However, there are still good and honest people in the world. We just need to be able to teach our children the right things: self-respect, respect for other people, common sense, responsibility and integrity.

What is happening is that instead of parents sitting their children down and talking to them about sex. They hide it like it some huge secret and children don't have any guidance so they learn about it the wrong way and that is from their friends. If parents stop acting like sex is a big secret and stop feeling that their children are too young to learn about sex then this wouldn't be soo much of a problem. Sex is everywhere and parents have to stop hiding and talk to their children. I have 3 girls (16,14,12) and 2 boys (13 & 8). My 8 year old runs when the subject comes up, so he isn't ready but whenever he is I will talk to him and I have discussed the subject with my older children and so far so good.

Yeah I know. What I think is that they think it is cool. It seems as though they want to be cool, so they do stuff that they arnt really into. I have a friend who has a daughter who talks to me all the time about school stuff and everything. She had said that is why she almost had sex. And then her sister has already had sex and she is like 8 years old. She has had sex 3 times, with 3 different guys. So that is what I think it is.

My guess is that they don't know any better. Many schools have opted out of teaching sex education, which leaves the kids to experiment on their own and get into trouble. That age is also when puberty hits and the hormones begin to get out of whack.
It's up to the parents and the schools to teach these children so they won't end up having sex and dealing with the consequences thereof.

Parents aren't spanking their kids and they're spending too much time working and not enough time concentrating on their pre teen. Talking to them about sex and what could happen and being pregnant is a small part of it, now AIDS IS A BIG ISSUE.
