Buying a meal for a homeless person
Rescuing a child or animal from an abusive home
Donating blood to the American Red Cross
Giving CPR to someone who's passed out and has no pulse
Pulling a person out of a car before it blows up
Returning a lost wallet or money that you found to the rightful owner
Donating to those who are less fortunate than you
Returning a lost pet to its worried owner
Saving someone who is drowning or being attacked
Volunteering at an animal shelter, soup kitchen, etc.
There are many selfless deeds, I'm just naming a few. I'm sure you will find a good deed. Volunteering is a good place to start.

there is no such thing as a selfless good deed no matter what you will feel satisfaction if it is a good deed, unless your in the army at which point go for the medal of honor. but try going to a nursing home and playing some board games and give company to old people who dont have it any more, or go to the childrens hospital.

Donating money to St. Jude Childrens Hospital or going to a nursing home and befriending someone who lives there and has been forgotten about and just spend some time with that person. What great joy that would be that person. No good deed goes unnoticed by the Lord.

Ah, yes. The question posed by Phoebe to Joey on "Friends." I agree with their conclusions that no good deed can be completely selfless because it makes the doer feel good about themselves.

Any deed has some sort of satisfaction in it...so it's not really selfless now is it? Doesn't make it any less a GOOD deed though.

Okay I'll take a stab at it since this act somewhat weakens the physical body but may ultimately satisfy your altruistic needs. The act being, donating blood to the Red Cross.

How about....When you are at the grocery store, and an elderly person has put their groceries in the car, you go and get the cart for them to put it in the cart corral. It saves them the steps, you did not take it to use it. It is a good deed, and you did not benefit by taking the cart from them.

I can name one........there was a young unwed mother in the small town I lived in and her baby lived for a very brief time, she didn't even get to hold it. She saved money for a headstone for her baby but the money was stolen and all she was left with was a tiny wreath to mark her baby's grave. After my son's passing I used some of his memorial money to buy her baby a headstone. I contacted the monument company which in turn explained that someone donated a headstone for her baby. She's never known who donated it and she never needs to.

Start with little things - help somebody in the supermarket, let a car go in front of your car, smile to a stranger.
If you need things done on bigger scale you can volunteer to help in many places: Hospices, homeless shelters, hospitals, deliver meals to the eldest... there are so many places work with the disabled.
