A singer in a rock band that used to sing opera...?

I am trying to figure out the guy's name that is no (or was) in a rock band, who sang opera before he joined the rock band. Does anybody know who this is?

And no, it's not Freddie Mercury. He never sang opera (like, with an orchestra, etc.).
