i know this sounds stupid, but is your thumb a finger?

everyone says it isnt, but then they say you have 5 fingers. if they think your thumb is a finger, u would only really have 4 fingers..anyways wat about ur big toe?.....i am so confused!!!!

A finger is catagorized as any of the digits on your hand. Thus, a thumb is, in fact, a finger. People think that it isn't because it isn't referred to as "thumb finger" like how "middle finger" and "ring finger" are termed.

All of the digits on your feet are toes.

They teach you as a kid that you have 10 fingers becuase its easier to remember. Your big toe is a toe. thumb is a thumb, finger is a finger, and a toe is still a toe.
