you absolutely can- if you do it right. take it from me, most "fashion experts" have thrown out all of those old fashion faux pas in favor of modern exceptions that break all of those "rules". Before i tell you visually appealing ways that you could where black & brown together, let me first say that like art, fashion is subjective- so you could take my suggestions & run with them, come up with your own as well, or completely disagree- whatever works for you & is comfortable. Ok. Now dealing with black & brown can be tricky. But done "right" and it can look very classy and rich. Fabric, texture, & shade are important. For the most part brown bottom (pants, skirt, etc) with black top doesnt really work. BUT black pants, skirt with brown top can work. However- the fabric of the top shouldnt be cotton, it should be a very deep brown, sheer material. Or, even for instance: black cuffed trouser pants, deep brown velvet (or even silk if your not ready to do the velvet thing) camisole, & black chunky sweater coat. Or start with adding brown accessories to black, which is easier: for instance, black leggings, with a black & white striped shirt with maybe a deep rustic brown leather belt slung low (or brown suede or again distressed leather high boots)- the brown here dresses down & adds an itty bit of grunge to what would have otherwise been a dressy outfit (picture the same outfit with BLACK belt & boots- still cute, but not very creative or "stylish")- it's easy & predictable to match black w. black- not so easy w. black/brown. Mix & match- most people have an eye to see what works & what doesnt. Hope my tips help!

When you ask if anyone does, the answer is yes of course. No possible combination of colors and styles is so outrageous that you can't find some nutcase somewhere wearing it.

BTW, black and brown isn't really all that bad, they're both neutral colors so no real clashing. On the other hand, they are also quite bland together and tend to be rather dreary. Not a combo I'd recommend.

well black and brown do look good together, so yes! it also depends on what shades of brown u're talking about- as long as the brown isn't so dark that it comes close to the black u're straight.

i wear it all the time. i am a hair dresser there for my outfits always consist of black, black, black, and sometimes brown. i think that i look nice. it all depends on what accessories and shoes that you wear with it. usually when i wear those two colors together i actually get compliments on it. its all about the accessories, no so much the colors together

Do whatever you want. They are two of my favorite colors and I have worn them together before. I looked great! It all depends on how you carry yourself!

So not true.

I wear it all the time in the winter and get lots of compliments. I'm told it looks "rich".
