America's greatest challenge is simple - itself. The only way America can be hurt is by hurting itself, which it is currently doing in the mid-east...and has on a global scale since the end of the cold war. Thye hypocricy of American politics is directly repsonsible for any misfortune that happens to the USA. Whether it be arming Saddam in the Iran-Iraq war, or the disasters of South American fgoreign policyu, North Korea...Iran...
all of these countries pose as a 'threat' to the American ideal because of reactionary politics. America's biggest enemy is it's 'pimp and hoe' foreing policy; it is it's media that does not show true violent images of Iraq, in an attempt to keep its people unaware of the reality of war. It's in the illusion that the most powerful superpower the world has ever seen is indeed that powerful - when domestically almost 1/6 of Americans cannot afford healthcare and live on the poverty line. It's in the illusion of divisory politics - wherein pundits debate not for the betterment of their country, but for their own agendas. It's in the hypocrisy of Embargoing Cuba, but trading with Communist China at a rate unprecendented in both countries histories. It's in the sensationalist entertainers that grace tv and movie screens everywhere to distract and condition it's public into thinking that we will all be movie stars, NBA players, pop stars....'Idols'...
America's greatyes challenge is confronting it's own ugly underbelly in both politics and contemporary culture...then, and only then can America improve it's image globally, and develop its infrastructure in which all truly still have an opportunity - not just the elite. That, my friends, is America's greatest challenge. Not Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Liberals, Conservatives....
America needs an Age of Reason. And then, and only then, will it be able to confront the challenges it faces in the 21st century.

Getting the liberals and conservatives to realize they are both wrong and work together for the betterment of the country for a change. If that doesn't happen then we must move away form the two party system and get some fresh ideas working for us. We need some leaders that give a crap about a strong middle class or the people don't have a chance.

America was created in a challenge....Our founders forged a great constitution and the USA has a Bill of rights. We are a multicultural country with excellent leaders. Our greatest challenge is to have the UN and other countries handle many of the active world issues and to the best of our ability avoid wars and conflicts. At the end of the day, we ask the question? Are we safe in our homes...at this moment I am safe with the ability to answer your question in a free speech country and you are safe to ask your question:)

Americas greatest challenge is overcoming the republicans and the democrats who think that the only smart ideas come from the party they are in. The people in this country who only vote for someone because of the political party they repesent are the reason nothing ever changes.

We have many challenges. For a very rich nations we have a lot of poor people with out health care. Our middle class is a dream almost past.

We all live pretty well compared to other places, so it is still a great country, but we have many issues. Schools, gangs, divorce rate, crime, drugs, homelessness. Where to start?

Keeping the united in United States. We seem to have come to a point where we take deep pleasures in arguing with each other. If this continues, what the Europeans say about us might turn out to be true. They say, "Leave the Americans alone, they'll end up killing each other."

The Ocean Divide between rich and poor. For example, 90% of the stock market is owned by 10% of the US population, while 40+% of all children born in the US are born into poverty. Sad.
